When it popped up on Facebook that I was reading this book, a friend almost immediately commented "Get ready to cry!"

I hate it when people are right about stuff like that ;-)

Such a sweet, emotional, raw but beautiful story of life lessons shared between an old professor dying rather quickly from ALS as told to his favorite student. The lessons are basic. We all know them, but for some reason within this context as told by this man, they ring true more clearly than ever. Certainly they do for his student who is dutifully documenting the lessons while gradually lowering his own guard and finally allowing the love to flow between the two of them that was clearly always there.

A Teacher to the Last is what they agreed upon for his headstone. And Albon assured it would be so even after Morrie was gone by writing this book so that his Coach could teach anyone who chose to read it. I think that was just perfect.
