I've been on a kicker for baseball books the last couple months. I've never read any Stephen King before, mostly because I'm not good with scary books. My mind gets way to active at night and I don't need nightmares. I decide that this book would be my first. The first of the two short stories was really good. I enjoyed the baseball theme and the mystery that was wrapped around Blockade Billy. It was a fast read. The first short story took me two nights to read, which isn't very long for me. The first story had a nice feel to it. You wanted to know what was going to happen, why Billy was so off at times. That what kept me reading.

The second story I read in two nights again. I wasn't impressed by this story. I felt that it was looking at how one sees good and evil and once you decide to do evil there is no turning back. I felt that it was stupid. The character did one bad thing and decide that she liked it so she had to do more, at least that what it read like. I think his story was just not very realistic. The characters seemed forced more than real. I couldn't connect with them. That was the down fall of the second story. I just didn't like it.

Jason Hey Mike! I just finished this. It was interesting. If you haven't done so already you should give more of King's books a try. They're not horror genre in the traditional sense. They're more psychologically trippy. I highly recommend The Stand.
