Still a good read, but this volume was admittedly hurt in my eyes by Annabeth--my favorite character--being the object of the quest rather than part of it, and therefore missing for most of the book. Like previous installments though, it adds a new dimension to the impending fulfillment of prophecy and some great new characters with it. It was also nice to get to know--however briefly it may prove to be--Thalia and see what all the fuss was about. Percy's tangled emotions about her--jealousy of her natural leadership, relief that the burden of prophecy might be lifted from his shoulders, both of which he feels guilty about because he genuinely likes her--were both perfectly in character and doomed to get him in trouble, but ultimately taught our hero a valuable lesson that will hopefully help him in the battle ahead.
