Dreamcatcher

Ah, I love Stephen King as much as the next person. And I'm just glad that I read It and the TommyKnockers before I read this book. I loved those two books, they both had amazing endings and plot elements and it was all very new to me. However, reading this book dissapointed me in many ways. I'm used to SK taking elements from other stories, but only on minor levels - this book blew this out of proportion, reminding me of way to many devices I've seen before. More than once, I found myself, skipping over sections, that are really unnecessary. (Kurtz's monologues etc) The ending as well, failed to deliver the full OMG THIS IS NOT HAPPENING - affect that I get from most of SK's works. The last 100 pages, I raced through just wanting it to be over with. And the ending it self just felt like so much BS. The whole "dream" thing he tried to tie up together, didn't work for me and I was mostly thinking "So much of this could have been avoided / skipped over." I hope the next SK book I read is like how all the others I've read have been - an amazing experience. Even thinking of a few of his works - TommyKnockers, Needful Things, The Stand, Christine, The Dark Half, It, Misery, Desperation - they've covered such a wide spectrum of ideas and innovative thought, so I just feel like I wasted my time with Dreamcatcher. I don't recommend reading this, if you've read It and/or Tommyknockers.
PS: I also watched the movie (I have to once I read the book) and it's a big joke.
Edit: I gave this a 3 because, SK is SK and no matter what I LOVE the way he writes.
