I, like many of the reviewers of this book, heard about it on an interview on NPR. I felt it was a rather self-indulgent description of one woman's experience as a dominatrix. The problems I had with the memoir included her overanalyzing of her experience (it left very little room for me to analyze her experience myself). I also felt it read like a creative writing paper at times. I found the descriptions of being a dominatrix enlightening because I didn't realize how very disgusting and demoralizing it could really be. I felt that she should have waited a few more years to write this and gain some more perspective on the experience, but with the amount of analyzing it contained, it may have just been worse if she had waited.
