Mixed feelings. I was totally engrossed, and totally surprised. Martin got me good with his ending, and that's okay. Well done. I liked the relationship that developed between the characters. I skipped some of the survivalist details because they went on a bit too long for me, though some of them were fascinating. I would have been dead the first day, so it was intriguing to follow the fight for survival. I liked Ben's nobility. What bothered me and what causes my mixed feelings is that he (Ben, and thus the author) sometimes got a bit preachy about his morality as a physician and a man. Just a bit too much. All in all, though, it was a good and thought provoking read.
