Excellent book. Nafisi is simultaneously recording her life and analyzing it from a literary perspective, allowing us an interesting view of revolutionary Tehran as it relates to various literary classics, such as The Great Gatsby and (obviously) Lolita. Maybe it's only because I studied literature, but an easy-to-digest, but still in depth, book analysis is fascinating to me. I'm so used to them being dry and academic, but Nafisi manages to make her discussions of literature vital and vibrant, further elements in the stories of the lives of the women she knew, rather than a few paragraphs of irrelevant analysis. A book to be read slowly, but better for it.
