Hawksmaid: The Untold Story of Robin Hood and Maid Marian
by Kathryn Lasky
by Kathryn Lasky
Something about this book never gelled for me. Marian starts out as 10 years old and ends up a teenager, but it doesn't seem like she matures or changes much. The hawk bits were interesting, but sometimes they overwhelmed the story. I don't know...it was OK, but I much preferred Robin McKinley's The Outlaws of Sherwood and Theresa Thomlinson's The Forestwife Trilogy when it comes to Robin Hood stories written for MG and YA. Still, people who like Lasky's other books will probably like this one too.
