Dombey and Son is another Dickens masterpiece, a finely crafted story with extremely well-developed characters and a plot that will keep you completely absorbed until the last page. I find that reading a Charles Dickens book is kind of like taking a very long hike up to the top of a mountain. The journey is long and at times hard, but once you get to the top the view is absolutely glorious. All through the story, I kept wondering how he would to resolve all of the storylines and characters together and was not disappointed with his skill in tying up the many loose ends in an extremely beautiful and satisfying way.

This is a story about parents' expectations for their children and how dangerous they can be for both the parent and the child. It is also a story about how love is truly the most important thing in this life and that no amount of riches or power can compare with the wonder and beauty of loving relationships. In the end, love wins.
