Dark Lover (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #1)

I will review this as a series. I am conflicted on this series. My wife was raving about them and I love vampire books, so she had me start reading them. I have to admit that I like them. I do find flaws with them though. The writing to me is very polar. You either have a very dark, gritty, and violent section, and then you have a hyper-saccharine sweet love scene. Each book is centered mainly around one of the brotherhood. Herein lies another problem with me. The end of each book seems to wrap up everything for that character in the best case scenario. There are threads that of course carry though each book and advance the story. It just seems that the threads are not there for the stories' sake, but they are there as an excuse to go to another character. Even with all of those issues, I can't stop reading these books. The writing style is well done and draws you into these books. They seem like a dirty little secret for me. This is a "chick" book, yet I still read, wait for the next one, and fight my wife for who gets to read the next one first. I lose that fight every time.
Give these books a read and you will end up fighting to get the next one as well.
