What We Think

Reviewed by Living Destiny

I stumbled onto The Mediator series by Meg Cabot on my last visit to Barnes and Noble. It looked kinda cool, so i decided I’d buy it. What the heck, right? I’m really glad I did, because this book kept me reading all night. I literally didn’t put it down until I finished it, and I’m reading the second book now.

Shadowland, the first book, is about Susannah Simon. She is a sophmore who just moved from NYC to Carmel, CA, because her mom got remarried. Susannah seems like a normal girl, but she has a big secret. She can talk to ghosts. She can see them, hear them and feel them. Most important, though, is she can help them move on. She is a mediator.

In California, she runs into two different ghosts pretty quickly. She’s overwhelmed pretty quickly, trying to fit into a new school while trying to deal with two ghosts.

I really liked this book. The main character is a strong willed girl with a big mouth. She is witty and sarcastic, and stands out in a crowd. She’s also brave and daring. The other characters make the story even better. The only problem I find with it is the book can get confusing at times. Often, Suze refers back to her home in NYC, or her father (who died). However, she doesn’t explain very well, so I become a little lost (which is really saying something!) Overall, this book was awesome!
