As the first novel in a series, this is something that I am extremely eager to continue to the next novels. Many times if there is a series where questions are left unanswered for the next novels they are abrupt and annoying in their wait for answers. With this novel I find I have anticipation for the next book in the series, but I'm not left on a ledge in annoyance. I'm glad I've already purchased the second book, and received the third for a review - I cannot wait to read them.

This is an entertaining book. The main character, a Fanny Broadmoor has been dealt an interesting life within her extended family of loss after loss and with the issue of a possible inheritance she may be pushed even further away from them than she ever imagined. Once again Tracie Peterson has a novel with a bad guy that gets under your skin. But the difference this time is that this is a co-authored novel and this is a bad guy that you do not want to be bad. For my first exposure to Judith Miller, I must say I enjoyed it. After reading so many Peterson novels, I can tell a difference in the writing voice of this novel and I believe I have found another author in Miller to add to my reading list.

Lori I've read this book! It was a little annoying at times, but pretty good over all. I have the 2nd one on my TBR pile, but haven't gotten to it yet. The 3rd is on my Wishlist. :)

I've got all three, the first two just because and the third one for review. I'm trying to really get on that! I'm so behind. Almost as if I had a baby and moved or something. This week I only have one REAL post, so I'm hoping to catch up some!

Lori Hahaha! At least you have legitimate excuses! My only excuse is that it gets very hectic here around T'giving & Christmas...we have lots of extended family to visit...as I'm sure many others do, too. I hope to catch up soon, too!

I'll watch for your reviews... :)

Staci I have to try this author. I see lots of her book at the library. Where should I start?

Most of her series stand alone, but so far all of her historicals I have loved that I have read, but have not read them all yet. Easily if it's historical and has her name on it, if the price is right, I'd buy it.

What I can tell you is that I started with her series Yukon Quest. You can get it in an omnibus (all three books in one spine) now with a beautiful cover.

She has two different types of historicals. She has the out west Americanas that take place in places like Colorado, Montana, Washington state, and Alaska. Then there are the ones that I could almost qualify as Regency within the southeast, Pennsylvania, and like this one New York. So it really depends on what you're in the mood in for.

I personally have loved
Yukon Quest 3-in-1

A Lady of High Regard
A Lady of Hidden Intent
A Lady of Secret Devotion

A Promise to Believe In
A Love to Last Forever
A Dream to Call My Own

Dawn's Prelude

If want to start with shorter stories, start here...
New Mexico Sunrise
New Mexico Sunset

I have read two of her contemporary novels and was not really that crazy about them at all. I plan to read all of her historicals and have bought some of them that sit on my TBR shelf such as the Bells of Lowell and Lights of Lowell as well as the Heirs of Montana.
