I might be controversial by giving this book only 3 stars, but it didn't click with me the way I expected it to based on the universal "Wao" it got from everyone else. All those Mordor references felt forced, and I felt a bit attacked as a reader rather than invited. Anyone else want to join in my dissent?

Zorn I'm kind of enjoying the way he is teetering back and forth with references to an array of genres that a single person/walk of life may not have the scope to capture right away. I like the challenge. I also enjoy how some parts are shoved down my throat, it tingles the senses. Its definitely an abrasive read at some points, but the way I see it if all texts read smooth and inviting I'd get a little bored. I also find I'm learning an incredible amount about the DR and Dominican culture. Good Stuff.
