Heard of Twice bitten third time shy..

Well even I haven’t and neither did I apply, when I read the third book of VS Naipaul.. on suggestion by a friend (thanks Adnan). The first two being disasters making me think how can he ever get a Nobel for literature..

Though even this book was not Nobel certifying but it was just nice.. you might have read books based on plots, stories, twists, heroes.. but this book is solely dedicated to the CHARACTERS..

The character sketch is just beautiful, judging neither of them but narrator just telling each of their stories. He does get biased to his like/ dislike but the reader is free to judge despite that.

Each one of them unique and simple in its manner... One might have never seen them or might just find so many of them, all the time in one’s office, school, city or street.. that’s what Miguel Street is - A series of sample characters who behave & entertain in their different ways..

All these characters have a funny streak in their behaviours but sadness lurks in their stories.. poverty & expectations pulling them down but getting joy in their small wins & celebrations.. Each of them are similar, but at the same time so different... Read it and you would wish you had written it...

Now a final word on Naipaul, hate him, love him – but you can’t ignore him..
