I have lots of pent-up hostility toward this novel right now. I can't believe I made it all the way through at times. All this inner-drama (do i love her? can i love anyone? i don’t want to be smothered! she just wants my soul! i can’t give her my soul. i love my mother. i hate my mother. who am i? ) was insane. MAN UP, PAUL MOREL. he drove me CRAZY for 463 pages.....Between Paul Morel and Mama Morel, I can see why the father drank so much. (okay, that's a little harsh, but you get the idea.)

I just wanted to shake MIRIAM. Stop gushing over him; he's not worth it.
