I picked this book up in an airport based on its review by the New York Times. I "almost" finished it before my final destination and did so about a day later. There was no happy ending nor can I say it was unhappy. Without giving away too much of the plot, to those who have read it will understand when I say I found this book to be "inconclusive." I liked the pace of the book, I liked the fluidity of the first person voice, and I liked the setting and theme. There are many of us who can relate to how difficult it is to start over after a divorce. So many feelings that never seem to go away whether the parting was amicable or not. As I read the book, I found myself reminiscing over my own divorce and feelings of starting a new relationship with someone who too is dealing with memories of a divorce.
Okay, what I really didn't like, was the name dropping in this fiction novel and the triangle sex scandal. So many loose ends in every direction, many unanswered questions...What happened to the dog? Will Sophy find love and with whom? I really wanted a happy ending and who's to stay it wasn't?
