I marvel at the self-indulgent writing style of this book. There's a certain self indulgence too in thinking you can create a genre by self-proclamation (biomythography). I can't even make it through therapy, what with the pressure of having to talk about myself in this manner for a whole hour. Still, I don't think I've ever read a woman's perspective of the McCarthy era. A young, black, poor, lesbian woman's perspective of the McCarthy era.

Well, that's what it's got going for it, and i give it 4 stars. Not everyone can be Ibuse Masuji.
