An amusing premise and overall entertaining book. Gen is horrified to learn that her mom has signed the family up for 2 months of living like pioneers as a summer vacation. Little House on the Prairie life is of course anything but idyllic, especially with super competitive groups of neighbors, all trying to convince themselves and each other that this is a fantastic experiment. Fortunately, even though her family keeps coming in dead last in the pioneer games, Gen has a cell phone and is able to broadcast her thoughts on the whole experience to her friends. Soon it becomes a blog, and unbeknownst to Gen, she's getting a lot of attention. Gen is a fairly realistic teen, but many of the other characters lack depth. Still, teens will root for Gen and enjoy her battle and eventual triumphs in multiple arenas. A good, fun read.
