it was ok
bookshelves: adventure, mystery, mid-elementary
Read in January, 2009

This was something that would have appealed to me in elementary school or early middle school. The mystery, with the kids solving it, was fun; there were a lot of facts about Antarctica that were new to me; the travel aspect would have caught my attention as well. The illustrations and style of the book seem pretty basic and young, but as a child, I think that would have made the mystery that much more accessible - it almost looks like something I would have put together at that age.
Kids who like mysteries, exotic locations, and a little bit of fact should get into these. If you have a non-fiction reader, this was a decent bridge between facts and mystery.
Nothing obviously objectionable.
