really liked it

I really wanted to love this book. It's winning tons of awards, it's about a country I love, and it's a sci fi book. I just couldn't find a hook into the story. There are a lot of characters in the book and it seems like the only ones I could connect with were the supporting characters - Kanya and Jaidee. Everyone else just kinda sucks.

The setting and the world building is great but I felt like there was a wall of glass separating me from the story.
