Dammit Janet!
Another forgettable addition to the Stephanie Plum franchise.
Don't get me wrong, I am a huge fan of the series, but let's be honest with each other here. It's been going on for a while now and functions solely on the same Plumy formula. I wish Janet would mix it up a bit, give it some new element to keep it going. I will still keep reading the series, it's just not as good as it once was. I almost feel like I'm reading the same story over and over. Steph unwillingly gets dragged into helping one of her friends solve a mystery. She hunts a handful of skips that evade her easily, but always get their due at the end. Oh yes and don't forget about the 3 or 4 cars she demolishes in each volume. Same old Steph here ladies and gentlemen, not much new.
Luckily for Evanovich, the jokes are still funny, though still more of the same, and her characters are so enjoyable, most fans will continue reading on. Like me.

How are you going with this one? I have to say I'm quite disappointed with the last few books in the series. The repetitiveness is getting to me.

I re-started this one after taking a year long break for the same reason. I love Stephanie and all her crazy friends and family, but yeah the repetitiveness is frustrating. I used to be one of those people who wants a series to go on forever so I can be in that world and with the characters I love always, but after the disappointment with the Night Huntress series latest book and the latest book in the Mortal Instruments series being so bad, I prefer series that wrap themselves up in 5 or 6 books. I'd rather have 5 books that all have their own great plots that connect and lead up to some epic final battle. I just finished the Fever series by Karen Marie Monning and loved it.
Same here. I might have to give the Fever series another chance in the near future. I read the first book a while ago and didn't enjoy it at all. A lot of people mentioned that it gets better and better and I keep on meaning to pick up #2, but still haven't.
I didn't enjoy the first one either because of Mac's personality. She was way too selfish and full of herself, but as the series goes on, her character has some major developments and by the last book you are cheering for her. Number two was much better, but honestly books 3 and 4 are where things get crazy addicting. Both have huge cliffhangers that make you desperate to read the next.
