I can see why some people (like my spouse) found it meaningful, and I guess I don't disagree with his main premise. But I didn't find it very engaging; if I hadn't an external reason to finish, I wouldn't have gotten very far. I think at times the author generalizes too much, falls into the mistake of using simplistic examples that seem to claim that all office work=bad, all shop work=good. For example, office workers need "sensitivity training" and to be forced to "walk on eggshells" to treat each other well, while shop workers always value each other based on their skills....right.
