This book has very enjoyable graphics, and it draws the reader in with the simple, non-repetitive story of a dog who left home wanting to avoid a bath. It has the feel of a story being told at a grandparent’s knee – engaging and yet uncomplicated.

This could be used to discuss or write about things that children do not like to do but know they need to do. There could be a discussion about the behavior of dogs or pets in general.

The pictures are very comical and entertaining. The cute little face on the dog would be a major draw-in for kids. Also, the fact that the dog is doing something a little rebellious would be interesting to many children. Additionally, children who may not like to take baths themselves may identify with the dog, or they may be able to connect Harry’s actions to experiences they have had with their own pet.
