** spoiler alert ** One of the best books I've read in a long time. Caitlin and Vix (summer sisters), Lamb and Abby (Caitlin's Dad and stepmom), Gus and Daniel (Abby's chicago boys), Sharkey (Caitlin's brother), Phoebe (Caitlin's mom), Ed (Vix's dad). Bru and Von (Caitlin and Vix's first summer crush). I really liked how the author included each character's narration (what was going on in their head) throughout the book. Quick read, quickly engaged, kept wanting to read more. Caitlin is wild, free spirit. Vix is quiet. Vix is asked to spend summer with Caitlin when she is 12 or 13. Takes you through each summer until they are almost thirty. Caitlin travels abroad sees the world while Vix goes to Harvard trying to figure out where she belongs. Vix's family is not close. Nathan has cerebral paulsey...dies when he is 12ish, mom is non cummunicative, family shuts people out. Vix enjoys summers with Caitlin, Lamb and Abby. Vix falls in love with Bru, he proposes, she says she's not ready, but can't get over him for years. Caitlin invites Vix to her wedding at the vineyard, come to find out Caitlin marries Bru. Vix is shocked, but agrees to be maid of honor. Vix ends up marrying Gus and living in New York. Caitlin and Bru have a little girl Maizie. Caitlin up and leaves. Goes to Italy (i think). Maizie is taken care of by Abby and Lamb. Bru marries Star (the owner of the vitamin shop). Vix goes to Italy to visit Caitlin right before they turn 30. Caitlin is tore up about Maizie, but says she's going to go for this other guy and would call Vix with a yes or no if she's going after him. Vix never hears from her again. Caitlin commits suicide. The story ends with the family have a memorial for her. Sad ending. Characters developed well. Easy to follow. Fast moving.
