really liked it

It has all the elements that you expect from a Dave Robicheaux story - Cletus is as larger than life as he always is and Dave is as introspective and tortured as he always is. Molly has a smaller part than often but on the whole Burke brings his own particular nostalgia for a lost America, woven into the storyline that barrels along with pace. If I have a criticism it is that the characters have probably run their course for me (which is a shame as I do love his writing) but the ending hints that maybe Burke has decided to call it a day for these guys anyway.
Anyone that hasn't read much Burke will enjoy it a lot I think - highly recommended.

Gary This one has swung into action just like so many of the Dave Robicheaux stories. It's familiar style and 'feel' make you feel like you've come home and you are getting what you expected and like from a book. That's not a bad thing for me, there's a comfort in Burke's writing style that makes me want to sit down with a pot of coffee and a big bar of chocolate and read, read, read!
