The author clears up some common misconceptions in astronomy in a humorous way. Here's an example: people think that you can step right over the equator and the Corolis effect will take effect right away. Not so it turns out. In a sink, for example, you have to let the water sit for a very, very long time to get rid of residual currents and then you have to let the water drip out of the drain at an absurdly long time to get it to do it.
