Tho born as Marcenia Stone, by the time she was fourteen, this woman was known as Tomboy Stone. Why? She loved to run and play baseball. In the 1930s, this was unusual behavior for a girl. Susan Sounds really interesting. I never knew there was a woman who played in the men's Negro League. Fighting two battles at once! Thanks for recommending it, Tara.

Tara Chevrestt I'm excited about it and I hardly ever do biographies. That goes to show how much this woman interests me. LOL. I seen the ad on shelf awareness and I'm so glad I did.

Linda This looks great. I have a friend who will love this! Thanks to you both...

Susan My library district is getting it, so I'll bet yours will too.

Tara Chevrestt My dad wants my copy when I'm done with it. He loves reading about baseball and he loves biographies. I told him about this. I bought him a Roberto Clemente biography for Father's Day last year. As a matter of fact, the author of this book was in his city last weekend at the Negro Museum. He is sorry he was unable to go. At least he will get to read the book tho. :)

Susan I have to admit I'm not really a baseball fan, but this story sounds too interesting to miss.
