Setting off on a Dresden Files series sprint at the recommendation of my husband and some friends with the goal of finishing before Origins begins one week from today, I have a lot of reading ahead of me. However, it won't be a chore. The books are fun, light and move quickly. The idea of a hardboiled magical detective seems unique, at least to me, but there also seems to be a recent surge in this subject among other authors as well. The characters are enjoyable and while stereotyped seem to be on a more interesting, real, and likable end of the spectrum. The moral quandaries are only attempted but then again, I wasn't reading for a deep thought-provoking book but rather for a fun adventure and mystery. My husband assures that the rest of the series gets even better which is a little hard to imagine, but certainly something to look forward to.
