This book had a fascinating world to explore, but Todd's voice flat out didn't do it for me, and the plot got to be pretty repetitive (run...run more...almost caught! run faster!...run...etc.). I was also really put off by the creative spelling. I'm not sure if it was meant to indicate Todd's illiteracy or just an accent, but either way, it didn't work at all. I mean, throwing in an odd "direkshuns" does not an illiterate character make, and the pronunciation doesn't really differ any from the actual, correct spelling, so I don't know how it would indicate dialect. *shrug*

Overall worth the read for the great worldbuilding and intriguing premise, but the characters and plot are less than inspired.
