This book was instantly more appealing than Twilight because the back cover plot was not nearly as dramatic, the praise came from authors I like (i.e. Gaimon), and it was compared to Chocolat and Buffy. The writing was better, but seemingly meant for older teens than the Twilight crowd, and the character of Sunshine was more interesting and less tiresome. I think it would appeal to teens who might not like the obsessive love story of Twilight, but still want some sexy intrigue, and who respect stronger female characters. Am enticed to read the entire book.

Indira Mukherjee Vampire stories do not attract me at all. It is another vampire story and I did 10 minutes reading on it. The funny thing is Sunshine (who works in a bakery) gets snatched by the vampires when she went to a long-drive near the lakeside by herself and somehow she managed to get relieved. How can you escape from a vampire? I understand that she has a magic related background and the guy who helps her is a vampire too. Since the vampire theme is very popular among the teenagers and I am sure they will like it. Had this book not assigned for the class, I would not have read it.
