This book is told from Jarrod and Kate's point-of-view. Kate is a witch, which only her friend knows. Other people at school think she is but they have no idea. Kate is able to get in people's heads and sense how they are feeling, as well as do minor spells. Jarrod is new in town. His family has moved many times and bad luck seems to have followed his family. On his first day in class, Kate is memorized when she sees Jarrod. When she tries to sense how he is feeling she is blocked, which has never happened to her. Jarrod is very clumsy and drops things in class when a kid starts making fun of him something extraordinary happens, wind starts blowing, lighting flashing, the classroom is in getting destroyed, all the kids are running everyone, all but Jarrod. Jarrod seems to be in a trance and Kate is the only one who notices. When a window shatters and cuts him in his arm, everything stops and he comes out of the trance. Kate knows he has powers, the only problem is trying to prove to him of such thing. She takes him to her grandmother so she can heal the wound. on the way she tries to explain to him about magic and convince him that he has powers, but he thing she's crazy. As other things begin to happen, Jarrod can't help but wonder if what Kate says is true. As circumstances bring them together again and again, Kate begins to believe that he has been cursed. In order for her to be able to help him, she must convince him of his powers and the curse. They begin a journey together that began many generations before. Will they be able to get through it and make Jarrod's life better? How will that change their future? Read and find out
