Needless to say, Dan Brown is not a very good writer. I've never read more passive sentences in my life than in this one book, and it's a wonder how you call it action packed. I was bored from reading a five minutes run-on sentence that could have been written much, much better.
Hmmm... I don't really see why 'non-stop action' is so bad. Dan Brown added those moments when Robert Langdon was explaining the concept of the Illuminati, so that was a bit less 'action'. For me, it had enough action, and enough non-action. It was perfect. I guess we all have our own opinions.
