I have mixed feelings about this book. This is a very thick book (1007 pages). For me, it took several months to get through the first 400 pages of the book because I had a had time seeing the story really progress. The author chooses to try to move the story along by giving you one chapter on a character, moving onto another character, then giving the readers glimpses into the back stories of the two characters you just read about. So, during the first 400 pages or so, it becomes a difficult read. However, once you all the back stories merge into the present time, wow does the story move! The last 600+ pages of this book are amazing. As I neared the end and reflected on the book, I realized that they way the author approached the book was necessary to create the world and character development necessary for this story to exist.
Overall, not my favorite Brandon Sanderson book...but it is a very good start to an series that has potential to be truly epic.
