** spoiler alert ** Oh my goodness. Finally a book in this series that didn't end with a cliffhanger! Although, flipping through the last few pages of the book made me a little wary...

Finally the evil Bishop's reign has come to an end and I'm not at all sad to see him go. He was really the epitome of evil. Vampire or not, I don't know how anyone could see their own daughter in silver chains, clearly being tortured. Seeing Amelie and Oliver working together gave me a thrill of satisfaction and a hope that Oliver wasn't all that bad afterall. Even toward the end when Oliver supposedly sold them out to Bishop, I still didn't believe it.

Also- Shane and Claire finally consummated their relationship! Although it wasn't as... graphic as I would have liked it to be, it is a YA book afterall. I've been waiting throughout all the six books for this to happen.

I adored that Frank Collins showed that he wasn't all heartless and even helped Claire out. Although I must say I laughed a little when he took pint of Claire's blood with him.

I also would have never suspected Dean of being the murderer of all those girls until Ada revealed he was part of the portal-list. Even then, I didn't dare to fully believe he was the murderer until he showed up at Common Grounds again.

This book didn't get the full five stars because I don't understand why they didn't kill Bishop. He turned the whole town into chaos, killed Sam, forced other vampires into serving him. He should have met his end after Myrnin got his blood. When Shane threw the dagger at him, I was hoping and praying that Bishop would actually be killed by him but kudos to Rachel Caine for making it seem that way- with the poison and all. Also, why didn't Amelie kill Ysandre when she had the chance to take out one of Bishop's main servants? The author also didn't conclude what happened to Jason. And where was Frank Collins all this time when he supposedly committed suicide? Where was Claire and Shane working?

A lot of questions were left unanswered but ultimately, I loved this book. Not as much as the last, but close. It tied up a lot of loose ends; albeit creating new ones along the way but it was a good ending that for once, made me feel Morganville was "safe" again.

P/S: I have no idea why, but I keep portraying Andre Leon Talley as Bishop. Bishop just seemed kind of like a diva to me.
