Beyond the Shadows (Night Angel, #3)

Strong finale to the Night Angel Trilogy. While not as strong as the second novel, I am, overall, satisfied with this book and the trilogy.
My previous reviews have expounded upon the positives of the series as a whole, but I did mention that 1 negative was that Logan Gyre has not always been a believable character.
On the whole, his character just smacks too much of the 'knight in shining armor' figure, even after his 'toughening' in book 2. I just couldn't buy his figure as being that believable. In the same vein, the ending of the story is too neatly wrapped up -- don't get me wrong, I like closure to my stories, and I want to know what happens to the characters. But when it's all wrapped up and served on a platter at the end -- it again becomes just a little too much to believe.
Satisfying though :-).
In summary, this book continues with a lot of the great things from the first books (exciting story, some neat additions to tried-and-true 'assassin' concepts, new mysteries) but just falls a little short due to some believability issues regarding some of the plot lines. While I spent some time talking about the negatives, believe me that I enjoyed this book and series immensely and will be buying 'The Black Prism' in August (going to the Mysterious Galaxy signing in August!)
[Spoilers below...:]
and poor Dorian... I really liked him as a character. I kind of feel Jenine, having experienced the new Khalidorian empire, had also become somewhat... hardened to politics, and that she wouldn't or couldn't simply just complement Logan Gyre's eternal optimism and good-ness.
