This was not one of Vonnegut's better books. It was fascinating, but in the morbid way that all bitter and depressing tales are fascinating. There is a strong note of bitterness in Vonnegut's works, and when the humor is somewhat lacking, as it was in Mother Night, that bitterness shines through.
