really liked it
bookshelves: bookcrossing, memoir-non-fiction, travel, humor

I wasn't really sure what to expect from this book -- I'd never heard of it, or its author, before ... and I must say, I was pleasantly surprised.

There were many times when I was literally laughing out loud, either at the amusing manner in which the author writes, or at the images the writing conjured. The author does a great job describing life on this tiny island "at the end of the world" ... and I can only say that I think he and his wife are strong characters for being able to endure it! I don't think any amount of 'paradise' could entice me to live in a place with so many strange and deplorable problems!

I'm going to seek out the next book by this author, which is testimony to how much I enjoyed this one.
