Okay, so I only got to page 33 before I decided to abandon this classic. The only reason that I picked up the book was because a mom's group/book club was reading it as their next book. I've wanted to join a local book club for a long time, so despite my reservations about reading a classic, I got this from the library. It totally perplexes me that a bunch of women with young children would choose to read a book about a bomber pilot in World War II. In the first 33 pages, there's already mention of whores and dead men. I'm sure that it's a wonderful book, but it is so totally outside of anything I would be interested in reading, I barely gave it a chance and I won't regret returning it to the library, essentially unread.
