Fire is dangerous. And terrifyingly beautiful. And broken. The only human monster left in the Dells, she is determined never to repeat the horrors her father committed.

But the Dells are like Fire. They too are dangerous and beautiful and broken. And if the kingdom is to survive, it will need her. And the new king who threatens her with his lust, the former leaders whose lies have yet to be shared, and the young general who has more reason to hate Fire than anyone else in the Dells. And may be the only one who truly knows her.

Mmmm. Passion and secrets and a very HUMAN heroine. One of those fantasies where the danger is real, and therefore, you care.

Ken fire is a amazing book. it is one of the best i have read. you should read the first one graceling.

Hanna I love how your review gives just enough away. But the repetitive "and" was annoying.

Ange (MarmaladeLibby of Libby Blog) Schmelzer Anne u jst officially moved this one to the top of my pile after I'm done w/my latest graphic novel!

So better or worse than Graceling?

Anne Osterlund For me, better. Though I didn't get to that feeling until around page a hundred or so. So keep reading!

Amanda Better than Graceling, which is saying a lot as Graceling was brilliant!

P.E. at Tantalizing Illusions Now I really really want to read it! ;)

Ange (MarmaladeLibby of Libby Blog) Schmelzer AGREED Anne! Much better than Graceling! This one I couldn't put down and literally ignored the rest of my life while reading it. When I read Graceling I had a hard time getting through some of it. I had a hard time identifying with the main character in that one, this one, Fire, is fabulous! WOW!

Anne Osterlund Yes, plenty of romance, Karina. Enjoy!

Kathy Huynh I just read read the blurb for fire and I'm a little sad that it's not a continuance of Katsa's journey. :-( I expected more on her. I'm sure I'm going to enjoy this though.
