Red continues the series that started with Black. It picks up immediately from where Black left off. Thomas is still striving to save the world from destruction, but this story focuses more on what is happening in Thomas' dream world. In his dreams, fifteen years have passed, and he has become the leader of his people. They are under attack from the Horde (the bad guys). Thomas battles to save them using knowledge from the real world.

The Christian allegory, which I had been expecting, came to its full in this book. I was impressed with how Ted Dekker handled it. It was truer to the Biblical account in that the savior was not clearly the Savior until after his death.

With the focus on the dream world, the series has lost some of its momentum. Except for the fact that I already have White, the next book, I would be tempted to quit here.
