This is a great companion to Buechner's novels and I'd recommend it to all Buechner fans. I read the introduction and biography section and then skimmed through the rest of the chapters. The author does a great job giving context to each of the novels and you not only learn a lot about the books, but you learn a lot about Buechner as you read throuh these.

I started skimming after reading the first few chapters and would recommend treating this as a companion as you read through his novels. Read the section devoted to the novel you are currently reading as you read it.
