Some of Vonnegut's best situational comedy I've read yet. The scenarios in this book are both inwardly and outwardly hilarious. Aside from raw entertainment value, Jailbird also has a whole lot to say. This book has the broadest theme out of any I have read (except perhaps A Man without a Country). His writing skips merrily (sarcastically, of course) through the enormously complex troubles of economics, labor, education, the prison system, and personal ambition. And some how, miraculously, you feel satisfied by the end.
