Every Michael Connelly book I have read has been entertaining and quite a page-turner, and this one was no exception. He employs several recurrent characters in his books, and this one has journalist Jack McEvoy who is being laid off by the LA Times at the end of a two-week period. Jack decides that he is going to write a story so good that they will kick themselves for letting him go. What starts as an expose of the system that tries a 16-year-old gang-banger for the murder of a white stripper becomes an attempt to prove the accused innocent and thereby unleasing the wrath of the brilliant serial killer actually responsible for the crime. Mystery suspense books have been part of my book self since I read all my grandfather's Robert Ludlum books after his death when I was 15. Still love 'em when I have time.
