Jun 24, 10 many pep9le try and give up. Bummer! This is one of my all-time favorite books! It's sharply funny, witty and insightful about 19th C England specifically and women's no-win position in it, (and men, too), but Thackeray also nails it on the head r.e. human nature. So wonderful!

Cynthia I really liked this book, too. But I don't think I read the abridged version and I bet you didn't either!
