Read in June, 2010 — I own a copy

This was so cute, and light, and fun. I usually like my YA reads a little deeper, but I liked the concept of this one. I'm glad that it included familiar Beatles songs and lyrics. My father is a huge fan and I grew up hearing John, Paul, George, and Ringo (and learned to appreciate them in time) instead of Scary, Baby, Ginger, Posh and Sporty Spice of the Spice Girls, so reading this book was like having a Beatles playlist playing on repeat inside my head. Usually, when a book namedrops too many songs throughout the story, I start feeling alienated. I'd be lucky to be familiar with even one of them, because usually the bands and music mentioned are indie hits (read: songs that only "cool" people know) and too obscure for mainstream listeners like me. But it was different this time. I could relate to the music choices and I understood their connection and significance to the story. Major points for that!

Favorite scene: when Ryan sang to Penny. The mushy romantic in me just couldn't resist. A guy who gets up in front of a crowd of people to serenade you (with none other than the song you were named after) even if he knows he can't sing to save his life is a keeper! <3 Oh, and I like the cover!
