Heart-Shaped Box a good, solid 3 stars. It's nothing I would reread, but I enjoyed the time I spent with it. It moved along quickly and had some seriously creepy imagery that I'd love to see onscreen in the future.

Flawed heroes too, which I like, the dude and his girlfriend both. He came off like it was supposed to be a cross between Johnny Cash and an older Marilyn Manson. Is that how you pictured him? I liked the angle with the dogs too, that was right on.

I liked how the characters grew during the story. I don't think I'd like to see it as a movie though. I can handle some gruesomeness on the printed page, but I don't want to see it on the screen. Plus, I don't think any director could really do it justice; they would focus on the wrong aspects of the story.
