This graphic novel is amazing. A bittersweet story of growing up in an intensely religious and somewhat abusive family, falling in love for the first time and having that first heartbreak, remembering the incidents in childhood and adolescence that formed the person that emerges as an adult. Craig Thompson's semi-autobiographical story is touching and relatable, with the events in the life of his protagonist given weight without melodrama. I wanted to keep reading after coming to end of the story, to find out what happened after said protagonist left high school and left home.
