I was actually surprisingly impressed with this book. It's certainly not my usual book choice and there were elements that I did dislike, but it was a good read, all the same. The main things that I disliked in this book were some of the childish expressions - yes, I realise the 'creatures' are children, but some things just make me cringe. Mostly, I detested the names of the characters. I honestly think that if the characters had different names, I would have enjoyed the book more. I feel as though there could've been more of a sense of realism too, considering that the characters were still mainly human. I don't feel as though their ages needed to be so exagerrated, either. Apart from that, the book was actually quite good. I found it to be fast paced with a lot of action. I really liked how short the chapters were and how they were cliffhangers, making me want to read on and keeping me in suspense. Surprisingly good.
