Restoring Harmony by Joelle Anthony

A great story set in a realistic dystopian future (no more fossil fuels) where a teen - Molly - journeys to Seattle to collect her grandfater to bring him back home to her island in Canada. Since communications are almost non-existant, she leaves home believing that her grandmother has recently died. She also knows her own mother's pregnancy isn't going very well, and since Grandpa's a doctor, his skills are very needed.

The book provides an interesting mix of an almost antique feeling rural world contrasted with a somewhat harsher reality of life in a post-fossil fuel world. It is filled with very believable problems that get dealt with in realistic style. Really, it reads like realistic fiction in most ways, if you just accept the premise. It's not a thriller like so many dystopias are. This world, though very problematic, is not nearly as dark or creepy as something like "The Hunger Games." In point of fact, it is really a touching story about family and using your wits to survive.
