it was amazing

This is a very sneaky memoir, because it seems so quiet at first. It's tough to think you can get through to the end, because there is no major drama, nobody being beaten or raped or fed drugs...but this book is a classic portrait of a small town and the people who live there, with absolutely hilarious characters who draw you in through their escapades -- and then move you to tears.
